Jacob Tibedeaux is from Sachse, Texas. Became involved in band and AV programs after discovering computers could manipulate sound in ways that bordered on emotional fraud. Spent high school years soldering cables, repairing projection systems, and explaining obscure audio terminology to increasingly concerned adults.
Earned praise for constructing unnecessarily complex recording setups in residential garages. Once spent an entire semester researching microphone placement while forgetting to attend a mandatory elective. Developed moderate experience with compression artifacts, catastrophic feedback loops, and surviving overnight editing sessions powered entirely by gas station energy drinks.
Practiced the art of pretending unfinished demos were “experimental.”
Built several emotionally unstable drum tracks in Wylie, TX.
As a senior, Jake got to spend time in Park City, Utah for a performing arts internship associated with Sundance activities, where he attempted to learn snowboarding with the kind of confidence usually reserved for miniature breeds of Chihuahua at a dog park populated entirely by Great Danes (i.e., the fight in the dog, not the dog in the fight). Achieved brief local notoriety after setting a new downhill snowboarding speed record (accidentally) on Coyote Mountain. In fact, Jake might have collided with the group’s future bandmate Liam, who is a fairly talented goofey-foot, sidestepping Jake’s uncontrolled slalom like the Road-Runner. Indelibly remembered to this day is the impression Jake made on a featured Winter Olympics time-share diorama (the styrofoam display being the only long-term casualty, er, along with Jake’s ego).
Crossed state lines discussing signal theory, underground films, and why most modern music sounds emotionally pre-sanitized. Has strong interests in psychoacoustics, analog warmth, and creating songs that feel like corrupted memories recovered from obsolete hardware.
Believes perfection is usually the enemy of atmosphere.
